March | Saturday 23 | 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm | Out-Lit Book Club This rainbow book club meets on the last Saturday of each month. It is open to all and welcomes new members. March | Monday 25 | 6:00 pm | Readings by Salmon Press Poets David Gardiner and Thomas Redshaw To celebrate the publication of their new collections, Skenographia, David Gardiner and Ago: New & Selected Poems, Thomas Redshaw. Dr. David Gardiner is a poet, editor and professor who was born and raised in Chicago. From 2006 to 2010, he was the founder & editor of the international arts journal, An Sionnach, which published Van Morrison, Seamus Heaney, Eavan Boland, Paula Meehan and Eamonn Wall, among others. Thomas Dillon Redshaw is the author of Heimaey, The Floating World, Mortal, and fugitive broadsides and chapbooks. Raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts, he first encountered living Irish poetry in the impromptu readings of Desmond O’Grady in Cronin’s, behind Harvard. He studied poetry with X.J. Kennedy, John Montague, and M.L. Rosenthal.

April | Wednesday 10 | 6.30 pm | Art of Reading Colm Tóibín in conversation with Megan Nolan about her latest novel ‘Ordinary Human Failings’. Megan lives in the UK and Colm is in New York teaching for the first part of the year. This event is via Zoom, there will be audience participation and questions for the authors, are welcome. All welcome April | Thursday 11 | 11:30 am – 1:30 pm | Non-Fiction Writers Collective The Cork Non-Fiction Writers Collective will hold a regular reading session, combined with an OPEN MIC for the visitors, in the Thomas Davis Room of Cork City Library. All are welcome, just to listen and/or to read an excerpt from their own workEclectic writing group. Welcomes new members. April | Thursday 11 | 1:00 pm | The Wildlife of Our City A growing city, Cork City is home to a variety of species. This talk, delivered by Usna Keating, one of Cork City’s Biodiversity Officers, is a celebration of our biodiversity. The talk will discuss some of the species that call Cork home (even if only for some of the year), as well as the lesser-known species in our rivers, estuaries, city and forests. April | Friday 12 | 10:30 am | Cyber Safety Workshop Ensuring our cyber safety online is essential for safe and healthy internet and technology use. In this workshop lecturers from the CyberSkills group at Munster Technological University will cover 5 steps to cyber safety online. It will include how to check links are safe, how to recognise scams and what will make passwords easy to manage. This workshop is useful for anyone who wants to interact safely online, book train tickets, buy groceries and talk to family.
