June | All month | Solar System Search Clipboard in hand, tick off the planets as you discover them all over the library. Start your inter-planetary search with the sun situated right in the middle and work outwards. June | Wednesday 5, 12, 19, 26 | 11 am | “45 Club” A sociable game of cards every Wednesday morning. June | Wednesday 5, 12,19, 26 | 3.30 pm | Chess Academy Children’s chess club meets on Wednesdays under the expert guidance of Irish youth international Mark McGrath. The club also participates in occasional tournaments. June | Thursday 6, 20 | 11 am | Co-operative Scrabble A twice monthly opportunity to exercise mental agility in a social setting playing an old game with a new twist. June | Friday 7, 14, 21, 28 | 11 am | Library Storytime Themed storytime (‘Dinosaurs’, ‘Funny Frogs’, ‘Manners’.…) for preschoolers and early schoolers. Story books, rhymes and activity. June| Tuesday 11 | 3.30 pm | Frank O’Connor Writers Group A creative writing group that is gathering strength. Self-directing and open to the twists and turns its members may wish to plot for it. June | Thursday 13 | 11 am| Frank O’Connor Book Club “I’d love to have a 19th Century Russian Book Club where all the members have to act like the pretentious minor noblemen they are reading about” - Gary Shteyngart. Book selection is more varied in this club, no requirement to act and speak like characters from the work of Frank O’Connor. June | Saturday 15 | 3 pm | Imagination Station A free form creative workshop led by artist Amelia Norman for Cruinniú na nÓg. With materials supplied, Amelia will solicit imaginative ideas from attending children before launching the group on a creative collaboration. June | Friday 28 | 3.15 pm | The “Pageturners” The Pageturners Junior Book Club is suitable for children aged 8 to 12 and meets on the last Friday of each month. Classics and new titles read, reviewed, and discussed. June | Saturday 29 | 11 am | Video Game Club Fingers on buttons for new and retro multi-player games with Eoin, Cian and Ewan on the library’s big screen. Computer gaming in a social setting.
