The club also participates in occasional tournaments. May | Thursday 2, 16 | 11 am | Co-operative Scrabble A twice monthly opportunity to exercise mental agility in a social setting playing an old game with a new twist. May | Thursday 2 | 2:00 pm | Coro S’Ena Frisca All welcome to a performance by Coro S’Ena Frisca. This Italian choir hail from Putifigari, Sardinia and are visiting Cork for the international choral festival. Their rich repertoire is steeped in the history and way of life of Sardinia and through performance they wish Rhymes, Songs and Stories for all children aged under 6. Happy Talk is a long-running and successful HSE initiative engagingly delivered with an emphasis on fun and participation. May | Friday 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 | 11 am | Library Storytime Themed storytime (‘Elephant’, ‘Bubbles’, ‘Sleep’.…) for preschoolers and early schoolers. Story books, rhymes and activity. May | Thursday 9 | 11 am | Frank O’Connor Book Club This month the club will be discussing their impressions of “Lucy by the Sea” by Elizabeth Strout. “Rich with empathy and emotion, this novel vividly captures the fear and struggles that come with isolation, as well as the hope, peace, and possibilities” (Goodreads). May | Tuesday 14 | 3.30 pm | Frank O’Connor Writers Group A creative writing group that is gathering strength. Self-directing and open to the twists and turns its members may wish to plot for it. May | Friday 17 | 3.30 pm | Card Collectors Congress Match Attax, Pokémon, WWF …. this is a meet-up for children collecting cards. Plug gaps, trade your surplus, or just hang out and chat with like-minded hobbyists. Kick-off – 3.30 pm. May | Saturday 27 | 11 am | Video Game Club Fingers on buttons for new and retro multi-player games with Eoin, Cian and Ewan on the library’s big screen. Computer gaming in a social setting. May | Tuesday 28 | 11 am | Art Group Informal library art group meets last Tuesday of each month. New members welcome. May | Friday 31 | 3.15 pm | The “Pageturners” The Pageturners Junior Book Club is suitable for children aged 8 to 12 and meets on the last Friday of each month. Classics and new titles read, reviewed and discussed. June | All month | Summer Colouring There were 194 entries for Easter Colouring, will Summer be as popular?
